Role Overview
The Project Engineer – Drilling Fluids will be responsible for the planning, coordination, and execution of drilling fluids programs for offshore drilling operations in Namibia. The role requires strong technical expertise in deepwater drilling fluids, combined with project engineering and operational oversight capabilities to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective well delivery.
Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, design, and implement drilling fluids programs for offshore drilling operations, with a focus on deepwater wells
  • Act as the primary technical interface between the client, drilling fluids service providers, and drilling teams
  • Provide engineering support during well planning, execution, and post-well evaluation phases
  • Monitor drilling fluids performance and ensure compliance with client standards, regulatory requirements, and HSE policies
  • Identify and manage technical risks related to drilling fluids, recommending mitigation strategies
  • Prepare and review technical documentation, reports, and post-well analysis
  • Support cost control, logistics planning, and materials management related to drilling fluids
  • Participate in operational reviews, lessons learned, and continuous improvement initiatives
Experience & Qualifications
  • Minimum 10 years’ total experience as a Project Engineer within the oil and gas industry
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in deepwater drilling operations
  • Strong technical background in drilling fluids engineering for offshore environments
  • Proven experience working with major operators and integrated drilling teams
  • Degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline (preferred)

  • In-depth knowledge of drilling fluids systems, performance optimization, and wellbore stability
  • Strong project management and coordination skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural, offshore-focused environment
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence
