HSE Coach / Human Performance Trainer – Offshore

We are seeking an experienced Offshore HSE Coach / Human Performance Trainer to support the delivery of a Human Performance & Safety Coaching Program across offshore installations. The role focuses on improving safety culture, operational discipline, and workforce behavioural performance through embedded field coaching, supervision, and practical training.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily offshore safety coaching, worksite observations, and field walkdowns
  • Monitor Permit to Work (PTW), Control of Work, and critical control verification processes
  • Intervene in unsafe situations and reinforce safe behaviours and Stop Work Authority (SWA)
  • Deliver practical on-the-job training, toolbox talks, pre-job briefings, and post-job reviews
  • Coach supervisors on human performance principles, leadership, communication, and safe work execution
  • Support behavioural safety improvement initiatives aligned with Human Performance and IOGP Life Saving Rules
  • Provide daily operational feedback and structured reporting to the Offshore Installation Manager (OIM) and Company Representative
  • Deliver structured HSE campaigns focused on risk awareness, situational awareness, line of fire hazards, decision-making under pressure, teamwork, and learning from incidents
  • Embed the “5 Checks to Go” methodology into all work activities

Requirements

  • Extensive offshore operational experience in drilling, well operations, marine, or construction environments
  • Strong HSE background with proven expertise in:
    • Control of Work systems
    • Permit to Work
    • Risk assessment and live operational safety management
  • Demonstrated experience in:
    • Safety coaching and behavioural safety programs
    • Supervisor development and workforce engagement
    • Real-time field supervision and intervention
  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to influence workforce behaviours and challenge unsafe acts
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills
  • Must be fully dedicated to safety coaching responsibilities with no conflicting operational duties

Deliverables

  • Daily worksite observations and leadership feedback
  • Weekly coaching summaries and behavioural trend reporting
  • Monthly training progress reports and improvement recommendations

Success Measures

  • Improved HSE compliance and supervisor effectiveness
  • Increased workforce engagement and SWA usage
  • Reduction in unsafe behaviours and repeat incidents

Preferred Qualifications

  • NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent HSE certification
  • BOSIET and offshore medical certification
  • Human Factors / Human Performance training
  • Incident investigation experience
