Upstream We are seeking experienced Offshore Directional Drillers to join drilling operations in Gabon, Congo, Angola, Mozambique and Uganda. The successful candidates will be responsible for planning, executing, and optimizing directional drilling operations while maintaining the highest standards of safety, operational performance, and wellbore quality. Candidates must possess significant offshore experience, previous experience working with SLB directional drilling systems and procedures, and hold relevant Archer competency certifications or demonstrated competency within the Archer framework.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute directional drilling operations in accordance with approved drilling programs and client objectives.
- Monitor and control well trajectory to ensure accurate well placement and achievement of target objectives.
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot directional drilling equipment, including MWD/LWD interfaces where applicable.
- Conduct pre-job planning, risk assessments, toolbox talks, and operational reviews.
- Analyze survey data and recommend corrective actions to optimize drilling performance.
- Liaise closely with Company Representatives, Drilling Supervisors, Geologists, MWD/LWD personnel, and rig crews.
- Ensure compliance with client standards, company procedures, and local regulatory requirements.
- Prepare accurate daily reports, end-of-well reports, and operational summaries.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on drilling efficiency, NPT reduction, and well delivery performance.
- Participate in equipment inspections, maintenance programs, and inventory management.
- Promote and maintain a strong safety culture in line with industry best practices and company expectations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in West Africa offshore operations.
- Knowledge of MWD/LWD operations and integration with directional drilling activities.
- Experience with ERD, horizontal, and high-angle wells.
- Familiarity with drilling engineering software and well planning applications.
- Additional certifications related to well control, drilling optimization, or advanced directional drilling technologies.
Mandatory Certifications
Candidates must hold valid offshore certification requirements, including:
- BOSIET / FOET (with CA-EBS where applicable)
- Offshore Medical Certificate
- Must be able to work in Gabon
