We are seeking experienced Drilling Engineers to support oil and gas drilling projects across the ACE region.

The successful candidates will have a strong background in drilling engineering, with demonstrated expertise in wellbore anti-collision and deepwater drilling operations. Candidates should be technically strong, safety-focused and capable of supporting complex drilling programmes from planning through to execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, review and optimise drilling programmes for onshore and offshore wells.
  • Provide drilling engineering support from well planning through to well execution and close-out.
  • Perform and review wellbore anti-collision analysis, including separation factor calculations and proximity assessments.
  • Develop and maintain anti-collision management plans in accordance with company and industry standards.
  • Support well trajectory planning, directional drilling requirements and collision avoidance strategies.
  • Provide engineering support for complex and challenging well profiles.
  • Develop drilling programmes, casing designs, hydraulics, torque and drag, and other relevant engineering calculations.
  • Support the selection and optimisation of drilling equipment, BHA configurations and drilling parameters.
  • Monitor drilling performance and provide recommendations to improve safety, efficiency and well delivery.
  • Work closely with Directional Drillers, MWD/LWD personnel, Wellsite Supervisors, Company Representatives and other drilling service providers.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting during drilling operations.
  • Participate in risk assessments, technical reviews, pre-spud meetings and lessons-learned exercises.
  • Ensure drilling activities comply with approved programmes, company procedures, HSE requirements and applicable industry standards.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate drilling engineering documentation and reports.
  • Provide operational support offshore when required.

Deepwater Competency

Demonstrable deepwater drilling experience is mandatory.

Candidates must have previous experience supporting deepwater drilling operations, ideally involving complex wells, challenging well trajectories and the associated operational and engineering requirements of deepwater environments.

Experience with deepwater well planning, hydraulics, well control considerations, casing design, BHA selection and drilling optimisation will be highly valued.

Anti-Collision Competency

Strong anti-collision experience is mandatory.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate practical experience in:

  • Anti-collision planning and management.
  • Wellbore separation and proximity analysis.
  • Separation Factor calculations and interpretation.
  • Collision risk assessment and mitigation.
  • Reviewing directional surveys and well trajectories.
  • Supporting real-time anti-collision decision-making during drilling operations.
  • Working with Directional Drillers and well planning teams to maintain safe separation from offset wells.

Essential Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Drilling Engineer within the oil and gas industry.
  • Mandatory deepwater drilling experience.
  • Mandatory anti-collision competency and practical experience.
  • Experience with both drilling engineering and operational well delivery.
  • Strong understanding of directional drilling and well trajectory management.
  • Experience with drilling engineering software and well planning/anti-collision systems.
  • Good understanding of drilling hydraulics, torque & drag, casing design and BHA optimisation.
  • Strong knowledge of HSE requirements and safe drilling practices.
  • Ability to analyse technical data and make sound engineering recommendations.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary drilling teams.
  • Relevant engineering qualifications and industry certifications.
