Upstream Mudlogging Data Analyst / Data Engineer

A major Oil & Gas Services Company in Saudi Arabia is seeking an experienced Mudlogging Data Analyst / Data Engineer to support its drilling and wellsite operations.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in mudlogging, drilling data analysis, and geological interpretation, with previous experience working for SLB (Schlumberger) or a similar major oilfield services company. Previous professional experience in Saudi Arabia is highly desirable.
This position is particularly suited to an experienced Mudlogging Unit Leader / Lead Data Analyst with a strong understanding of real-time drilling data, geological data, mudlogging systems, and data quality management.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee mudlogging data acquisition, monitoring, validation, and analysis.
- Monitor and interpret real-time drilling and geological data from the wellsite.
- Analyse mudlogging parameters including ROP, WOB, torque, RPM, standpipe pressure, flow rate, pit volume, gas readings, and drilling trends.
- Ensure accurate and timely acquisition, quality control, processing, and reporting of wellsite data.
- Interpret lithology, cuttings, gas shows, drilling parameters, and other geological indicators.
- Identify abnormal drilling conditions and communicate potential wellbore or formation-related issues to the drilling and geology teams.
- Maintain high-quality digital and geological datasets throughout drilling operations.
- Prepare daily, end-of-tour, and well reports in accordance with client and company requirements.
- Work closely with Drilling Engineers, Wellsite Geologists, Company Representatives, Directional Drillers, and other wellsite personnel.
- Ensure compliance with HSE procedures, company policies, and client standards.
- Support troubleshooting of mudlogging and data acquisition systems.
- Lead and mentor junior mudlogging/data personnel when required.
- Ensure data integrity and consistency between real-time acquisition systems and reporting databases.
- Support the integration and interpretation of drilling, geological, and mudlogging datasets.
- Participate in client meetings and provide technical explanations of data trends and observations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Geology, Petroleum Geology, or a closely related discipline.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a leading Data Analyst / Mudlogging Unit Leader position.
- Strong practical experience in mudlogging operations and drilling data analysis.
- Previous experience with SLB (Schlumberger) is strongly preferred.
- Previous experience working in Saudi Arabia is required/preferred.
- Experience working for a major Oil & Gas service company is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of geological data acquisition and interpretation.
- Good understanding of drilling operations and wellsite workflows.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure, multidisciplinary wellsite environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
