Basin Modelling Specialist
Our client is requiring a Basin Modelling Specialist to conduct work in Abu Dhabi.
Responsibilities of the Basin Modelling Specialist:
Technical Work:
- Obtain necessary input data (e.g. depth grids, stratigraphic layers, facies, etc.) from other team members and generate petroleum systems models to validate and understand HC distributions in fields and discoveries.
- Predict or assess the charge risk on a play scale and for specific concepts, leads, and prospects.
- Review and integrate the results of previous and ongoing geochemistry re-evaluations, and identify gaps or additional work required.
- Evaluate and integrate existing basin modelling input and deliverables carried out by various organisations into the new build basin model(s).
- Assist in regional play evaluations, prospect ranking and maturation studies, exploration, and appraisal well proposals as required.
- May be required to participate in, and contribute to prospect volumetric, risk assessment, portfolio ranking and documentation of the results of studies.
- Continuously update pre-existing petroleum system models.
- Provide input for the preparation of regular management reports, such as the weekly/monthly highlights, weekly action points, etc.
- Use PetroMod, Petrel, Advanced Excel, etc.
Generic Accountabilities:
- Plan and coordinate all activities, in consultation with the client’s Project lead, in the assigned area to meet functional objectives.
- Mentor, train, and develop assigned client staff staff in relevant skills to enable them to become proficient on the job and deliver the respective business objectives.
Reports and Deliverables:
- Digital version of a fully P-T-Fluid calibrated Abu Dhabi wide basin model. All digital products (e.g. PetroMod, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.) will be made available on the client Exploration Shared Drive.
- Preparation of fit-for-purpose Technical Reports to the highest standards. Full documentation of the work undertaken will be completed, either as sections to client reports or as separate reports.
- Development of high-level Basin Modelling Guidelines and Best Practices, in collaboration with the client Project Lead.
- Provide input to progress reports for management.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Geology with MSc, in relevant discipline (PhD and structural geology background desirable, but not essential).
- Experience in Modelling Salt Tectonic Evolution through geological time, and Performing Fluid Compositional Modelling to generate HC and inert gas distribution maps.
- Preference for experience in Abu Dhabi or the broader Middle East Region with in-depth knowledge of relevant petroleum systems.
Additional Information:
- All work will be conducted in the Head Office of the client in Abu Dhabi working closely with client staff as part of the project team.
- Contractor will be expected to follow a standard 5-day working week (Monday – Friday), minimum 8 hours per day schedule.
