A basic to intermediate understanding of Geophysics, Geomechanics or Geology is a strong plus. He/she integrates the knowledge from borehole measurements with seismic, petrophysical evaluations and engineering analyses to develop a field-scale picture of the reservoir.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
A reservoir Petrophysicist:
• Is a fully qualified professional Geoscientist, with a minimum of Bachelor degree in Pure or Applied Science, but preferably Master and above
• Is a professional that can demonstrate in excess of a minimum of 7 years of activity in petrophysics analysis (see note below)
• Can demonstrate a variety of technical assignments requiring familiarity with a broad field of Petrophysics and knowledge of other domains: Geology, Geophysics, and Geomechanics
• Can demonstrate an intimate knowledge of the petrophysical analysis and modeling workflow
Typical activities involve:
• Preform open and cased hole logs processing and interpretation.
• Expert in multimin analysis, rock typing and facies analysis integrating well logs and core data.
• Conduct Formation pressure data analysis on a well, field and regional scales for fluid type, contacts and pressure communication evaluation.
• Plan routine and Special Core Analysis (SCAL) program and integrate analysis with wireline logs.
• Build 1D to 3D petrophysical models to highlight hydrocarbon potential capturing all range of uncertainties.
• Interpret well testing and PTAs and integrate with the petrophysical models to calibrate reservoir and fluid interpretations.
• Provide petrophysical solutions for marginal and tight reservoirs in both clastics and carbonates to capture hydrocarbon potential.
• Conduct petrophysical data analysis, saturation modeling for input to reservoir models, distribution of reservoir properties, rock typing, calculation of volumetrics, and rock mechanical/physics and net pay.
• Work with a multidisciplinary team to provide recommendations on minimizing formation damage and designing reservoir stimulation programs.
• Preform porosity, permeability and saturation height modelling.
• Model the range of uncertainties in the petrophysical parameters used for resource estimation.
