Data Engineer / Workflow Integration Specialist – 1-Year Contract (Kuwait)
About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer / Workflow Integration Specialist to join our client’s team in Kuwait for a 1-year engagement. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and integrating data pipelines and workflow automation using industry-leading tools such as Pentaho Data Integration (PDI), Apache NiFi, AWS Glue, Azure Data Factory (ADF), Cloud Dataflow, and Business Process Management (BPM) engines like jBPM.
This role requires deep technical expertise in ETL design, data workflow orchestration, and business process automation, with a focus on Oil & Gas datasets such as seismic, drilling, and production data.
Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and deploy ETL workflows for ingesting, transforming, and integrating Oil & Gas datasets (seismic, drilling, production).

Design, implement, and manage Business Process Management (BPM) workflows using jBPM.

Monitor and maintain BPM process instances, proactively identifying and resolving performance or execution issues.

Develop and integrate custom service tasks (REST API clients) for seamless system interoperability.

Configure and automate notification services (e.g., email alerts for case creation, updates, and closure).

Ensure optimal system performance, data synchronization, and fault tolerance across platforms.

Support Application User Testing (AUT) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT), resolving integration and workflow issues.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align data pipelines and automation processes with business and operational requirements.
Required Skills & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or related discipline.

5+ years of experience in data engineering, workflow integration, or backend development.

Proficiency in:

Programming: Java, Python, SQL

Databases: PostgreSQL or equivalent

API Development: FastAPI, Flask, or Node.js frameworks

Hands-on experience with ETL and workflow tools (Pentaho DI, Apache NiFi, AWS Glue, ADF, or Cloud Dataflow).

Experience with BPM tools (jBPM or similar), message queues, and automation frameworks.

Strong knowledge of AWS or hybrid cloud environments, especially S3, EC2, Google Cloud Storage (GCS), and Azure Blob Storage.

Understanding of data validation, security, and monitoring best practices.
