Upstream A Senior Completion Engineer based in Malaysia is required by global service company for planning, designing, coordinating, and executing well completion operations to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective delivery of oil and gas wells. This position is ongoing and to start immediately.
The role involves technical leadership during the completion phase, collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, contractor management, risk mitigation, and optimization of well performance while ensuring compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements. The Senior Completion Engineer provides technical expertise for complex wells including HPHT, ERD, offshore, deepwater, and unconventional operations.
Key Responsibilities
Completion Engineering & Design
- Develop detailed completion programs and operational procedures.
- Design upper and lower completion systems based on reservoir and production requirements and select completion equipment.
- Perform all related completion calculations to ensure long-term well integrity, prevent catastrophic failures, and optimize productivity.
- Ensure compliance with company well integrity standards and industry regulations.
Operational Planning & Execution
- Lead completion operations from planning through execution and post-job evaluation with Halliburton PSLs.
- Coordinate offshore/onshore completion activities with drilling teams and stakeholders.
- Monitor daily operations and provide technical support during critical activities.
- Optimize operational efficiency and reduce Invisible Lost Time (ILT) and Non-Productive Time (NPT).
- Participate in DWOP/CWOP sessions and risk assessments.
- HSE & Risk Management
- Ensure all completion activities comply with HSE policies and operational excellence standards.
- Lead hazard identification and risk mitigation processes, and coordinate Pre-job safety meetings
- Verify barrier management and well control requirements.
- Support incident investigations and corrective actions.
Performance Optimization
- Analyze operational data and lessons learned to improve future performance.
- Standardize best practices and work methods.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and operational benchmarking.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in STEM.
Experience
- Typically 10–15+ years of oil & gas experience.
- Minimum 5+ years in completion engineering operations.
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge and skills in Completion equipment, Well integrity. Well control, Completion fluids, Perforating operations, and Stimulation and well testing.
- Advance user of the Landmark suite of software (WellCAT, StressCheck, Digital drilling/completion analytics tools)
- Understanding of API, ISO, and company engineering standards.

- Mandatory Certifications
Certifications
- IWCF or IADC Well Control Certification, Supervisor level ( surface).
- H2S Certification
- Offshore survival certifications (BOSIET/FOET)
