Upstream Our Client is looking for a local DAQ Specialist in Trinidad for a short term contract project.
ONLY Local Trinidadian or CARICOM nationals with CSME Certificate will be considered.
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced DAQ Specialist with EDGE systems knowledge to support data acquisition, real-time monitoring, and digital solutions across offshore and onshore operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for configuring, maintaining, and optimizing DAQ systems, ensuring high-quality data capture, transmission, and integration with operational and engineering platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Configure, deploy, and maintain Data Acquisition (DAQ) and EDGE computing systems.
- Support real-time data collection, processing, validation, and visualization from field equipment and sensors.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, networking, and communication issues affecting data integrity and system performance.
- Integrate DAQ systems with operational databases, SCADA, and digital platforms.
- Monitor system health and implement improvements to enhance reliability and data quality.
- Collaborate with operations, engineering, and digital teams to support project delivery and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, procedures, and system configurations.
- Ensure compliance with company HSE, quality, and cybersecurity requirements.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical, Electronic, Instrumentation, Computer Engineering, or related discipline.
- Proven experience with industrial DAQ systems and field instrumentation.
- Hands-on experience with EDGE computing platforms and real-time data environments.
- Knowledge of industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, OPC UA, MQTT, and Ethernet/IP.
- Experience troubleshooting sensor, network, and data acquisition issues in operational environments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience within oil & gas, well testing, intervention, production, or energy operations.
- Familiarity with SCADA, historian databases, and cloud-based data platforms.
- Programming or scripting experience (Python, C#, SQL, or similar).
- Understanding of IoT architectures and remote monitoring solutions.
