Deepwater Senior Wellsite Leader

We are currently recruiting for Deepwater Senior Wellsite Leaders, one for a day company and another for a night company. This work will be offshore Namibia, rotating out of Walvis Bay.

Responsibilities of the Deepwater Senior Wellsite Leader:

Operational Management:
  • Lead and manage wellsite operations, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate and oversee all drilling activities, ensuring they are conducted safely, efficiently, and in accordance with the drilling program.
  • Manage logistics and operational planning for drilling operations from Walvis Bay.
Safety and Compliance:
  • Enforce adherence to HSE (Health, Safety, and Environmental) policies and procedures.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings and drills.
  • Ensure all personnel are adequately trained and aware of safety procedures.
Technical Oversight:
  • Provide technical guidance and support to the drilling team.
  • Ensure the use of appropriate drilling techniques and technologies for ultra-deepwater operations.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues promptly.
Team Leadership:
  • Supervise and mentor the wellsite drilling team, fostering a culture of safety and excellence.
  • Coordinate with onshore support teams and third-party service providers.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback.
Reporting and Documentation:
  • Maintain accurate records of drilling activities, including daily reports and incident reports.
  • Ensure proper documentation of all operations and adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including senior management and regulatory bodies.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field is preferred.
  • Strong background in deepwater drilling, particularly in the West African region.
  • Relevant industry certifications – e.g. IWCF Well Control and BOSIET.
  • Previous experience with rotational work schedule.
  • Familiar with ultra-deepwater drilling techniques ad challenges.
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in deepwater drilling operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • In-depth knowledge of drilling engineering and wellsite operations.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to make quick decisions.
  • Ability to adapt to changing conditions and operational demands in a challenging offshore environment.

Additional Information:

  • This project will be for 12 months and starting in Q4 2024 (September or October), with a possible extension of an additional 6 months.
  • Standard rotational schedule, typically 28 days on and 28 days off or similar.
  • Accommodation is provided onboard the rig and at a designated facility in Walvis Bay during rotations.
