Electrical Technician – VFD (Sensia & ABB)
About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Electrical Technician with expertise in Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) to join our team. The role focuses on the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical and motor-control systems, with a strong emphasis on Sensia and ABB VFD platforms.
You will play a key role in ensuring the safe, reliable, and energy-efficient performance of motors and process equipment, while working closely with engineering, operations, and Technology Lifecycle Management (TLM) teams
Installation & Commissioning

Install and commission low- and medium-voltage systems, including VFD panels, switchgear, starters, and protective relays.

Configure and parameterize Sensia and ABB VFDs (e.g., ACS/ACH/ACS880 series, Sensia platforms) for torque, speed, and PID control.

Verify power/control wiring and grounding systems against electrical drawings and standards.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting

Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on VFDs, MCCs, transformers, and related systems.

Diagnose faults in power electronics, control circuits, and communication networks (Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet/IP).

Record performance data and service activities in the TLM system.
Integration & Optimization

Integrate Sensia and ABB drives with PLC/DCS and plant automation systems.

Optimize drive parameters for energy efficiency, reduced harmonics, and motor life extension.

Support technology upgrades and retrofits as required.
Safety & Compliance
-
Follow IEC/NEC codes, NFPA 70E, and company HSE policies.

Apply lockout/tagout procedures, toolbox talks, and risk assessments.

Ensure equipment meets regulatory and certification requirements.
Required Qualifications

Strong background in electrical maintenance or industrial automation.

4–5 years of hands-on VFD experience, including commissioning and troubleshooting.

Proven expertise with Sensia and ABB VFDs (configuration, tuning, integration).

Ability to interpret electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and control logic.

Solid knowledge of power distribution, motor protection, and grounding systems.
