Field Mechanic
Our client is recruiting for a Field Mechanic to support their facility in Chincilla, Queensland, Australia.
This role entails ensuring the safe and efficient operation of equipment, performing maintenance and repairs, and contributing to overall project success.
Responsibilities of the Field Mechanic:
Maintenance of Vehicles and Equipment
- Perform routine and preventative maintenance on a variety of vehicles, including light and heavy vehicles, and their associated components.
- Conduct inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on diesel engines to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- Service and maintain pumps, lighting towers, and other auxiliary equipment, ensuring they are in working order for various applications.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair light trailers and heavy vehicle trailers, addressing issues related to brakes, axles, suspension, and overall structure integrity.
- Perform comprehensive maintenance on specialised equipment, including but not limited to, generators, compressors, and hydraulic systems.
- Conduct inspections and tests to identify faults, defects, or wear and tear.
- Overhaul, rebuild and replace major vehicle and equipment components when necessary.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance and repair activities.
Field Mechanical Services
- Provide field mechanical support, including on-site maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair services for vehicles and equipment at remote work sites.
- Respond to emergency breakdowns promptly.
- Perform equipment mobilisation and demobilisation as required to ensure that all machinery is ready for operation in the field.
- Rig up and function test equipment, ensuring its readiness for deployment in various operational scenarios.
- Participate in pond set-up and take-down, and assist in fluid management system set-up and operation.
- Assist in flowing back wells, including screen outs and abrasive material handling.
- Safely move equipment between lease locations and two trailers and other assets as needed.
Fluid Management Support
- Contribute to fluid management and pond installation operations, assisting with the proper handling and control of fluids and equipment in an oil and gas field environment.
- Support the Fluid Management team to optimise performance and safety.
- Participate in projects and provide valuable input on their suitability for implementation.
- Regularly communicate with direct supervisors and management to ensure project success.
- Accurately capture field data for reporting and analysis purposes.
- Maintain proper availability of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and ensure its correct usage and care.
Requirements:
- Relevant trade qualification in mechanical maintenance or a related field.
- 2+ years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Operate vehicles in the field – 4×4.
- Confined space with BA training.
- Work at Heights.
- Senior First Aid.
- CPR training.
- Gas and Atmosphere training.
- HR, HC or MR truck license.
- CV Crane license.
- Telehandler or Forklift ticket.
