Upstream Our client is currently looking for 4 MPD Choke Specialist for a 12 month rotational contract in Argentina.
Job Summary
We are seeking experienced MPD Choke Specialists to support Managed Pressure Drilling operations by operating and maintaining automated and semi-automated MPD choke systems. The successful candidate will ensure accurate pressure control, monitor real-time drilling parameters, and work closely with the MPD Supervisor and rig team to deliver safe and efficient drilling operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor automated and semi-automated MPD choke systems during drilling operations.
- Configure and operate Cortec automated choke systems and associated MPD software.
- Maintain wellbore pressure within the prescribed operating window by adjusting choke parameters as required.
- Monitor real-time drilling data and respond promptly to pressure fluctuations or abnormal well conditions.
- Perform equipment function tests, troubleshooting, and routine maintenance of MPD choke equipment.
- Support rig-up, commissioning, testing, and rig-down activities.
- Ensure compliance with company HSE policies, well control procedures, and client requirements.
- Complete operational reports, equipment logs, and shift handovers accurately.
Minimum Requirements
- Fluent Spanish speaker (required); English proficiency is an advantage.
- 2–3 years of experience operating automated (Cortec and associated MPD software) and semi-automated MPD choke systems.
- Strong understanding of Managed Pressure Drilling principles, pressure control, and drilling operations.
- Valid IWCF or IADC Well Control Certification – Supervisor Level (mandatory).
- Experience working on land or offshore drilling operations.
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Willingness to work rotational assignments internationally.
