About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Mud Engineer / Drilling Fluids Coordinator to support our drilling operations in Guyana. The successful candidate will oversee drilling fluid programs, ensure fluid system integrity, and coordinate with onsite and offsite teams to achieve safe, efficient, and cost-effective well delivery. This role requires strong technical expertise, operational awareness, and the ability to work smoothly within a rotational schedule.
Key Responsibilities
Operational & Technical

Develop, implement, and manage drilling fluid programs throughout the well cycle.

Monitor drilling and completion fluid properties; perform required tests and maintain accurate records.

Recommend adjustments to the fluid system to ensure optimum hole cleaning, formation stability, and drilling performance.

Coordinate with drilling supervisors, rig personnel, and third-party service providers to ensure alignment on mud system requirements.

Assist in planning and executing well-specific fluid designs, hydraulics modeling, and solids control strategies.

Ensure compliance with company standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.

Troubleshoot fluid-related issues such as stuck pipe, losses, wellbore instability, and contamination.

Manage product inventory and consumption forecasting; liaise with logistics teams for timely supply.

Oversee solids control equipment performance and recommend improvements.
Project Coordination & Reporting

Prepare daily fluid reports, cost tracking, and end-of-well documentation.

Provide technical support to both field operations and the drilling engineering team.

Participate in pre-spud meetings, risk assessments, and after-action reviews.

Support HSE initiatives and ensure safe chemical handling, storage, transportation, and waste management.
Qualifications & Experience

Minimum 5+ years’ experience as a Mud Engineer, Drilling Fluids Engineer, or Fluids Coordinator in offshore drilling operations.

Proven experience in deepwater or complex well environments strongly preferred.

Technical diploma or degree in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Geology, or related field (preferred but not mandatory).

Strong understanding of water-based, oil-based, and synthetic-based mud systems.

Good knowledge of solids control, hydraulics, and wellbore stability management.

Valid offshore certifications (BOSIET/FOET, HUET, Medicals, etc.).

Strong communication, reporting, and problem-solving skills.
