Upstream Rig Mechanic – Land Rig / HH Rig
Location: Tenerife, Spain
Rotation: 28 days on / 28 days off
Eligibility: EU nationals only or must have the right to work in Spain.
About the Role
We are currently looking for an experienced Rig Mechanic to join a land drilling operation in Tenerife, Spain.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, servicing, repair and troubleshooting of mechanical equipment across the drilling rig, ensuring equipment is maintained safely, efficiently and in accordance with planned maintenance requirements.
Candidates must have previous land rig experience, including hands-on experience working with HH Rigs.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain, service and repair mechanical equipment across the drilling rig.
- Investigate equipment faults and malfunctions and carry out necessary repairs or replacements.
- Perform inspections and scheduled maintenance in accordance with the Planned Maintenance System (PMS).
- Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records.
- Plan maintenance activities to minimise disruption and avoid unnecessary drilling downtime.
- Maintain and troubleshoot hydraulic and diesel equipment.
- Ensure tools and equipment are maintained in safe, serviceable condition.
- Work closely with the Rig Manager, supervisors and drilling crews to support safe and efficient operations.
- Follow all Permit to Work (PTW), HSE and site safety procedures.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience as a Rig Mechanic on land drilling rigs.
- HH Rig experience – essential.
- Strong hands-on mechanical maintenance and troubleshooting experience.
- Proven experience with hydraulic and diesel equipment.
- Experience maintaining drilling rigs and associated/ancillary equipment.
- Relevant mechanical qualifications or recognised apprenticeship.
- Good knowledge of preventative/planned maintenance systems.
- Strong understanding of drilling-site HSE requirements.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a rig crew and use initiative when troubleshooting equipment.
- Must be an EU national.
The original role specification requires candidates to demonstrate competent mechanical qualifications and practical all-round mechanic experience covering drilling rigs and ancillary equipment.
Rate & Rotation
€460 per day, including holiday pay, with a €28.75 per day discretionary retention bonus.
The position operates on a 28 days on / 28 days off rotation.
Travel: One travel day each way will be paid at 50% of the normal day rate. Economy flights will be provided.
Meals: All meals are provided while on rotation. No additional subsistence allowance is payable.
