Job Description: Senior Data Processor
The Senior Data Processor is responsible for contributing to
the data management, processing, and final deliverables for all GEOSIGHTs
hydrographic survey projects. Assisting with coordinating the data processing team,
and responsible to the survey manager, the Data Processing Coordinator must be
able to work to deadlines and prioritise their workload and that of the data
processing team for whom they will be coordinating.
The Senior Data Processor is responsible for data processing
on all hydrographic projects including assisting with initial planning,
resource management, supplier management, scheduling & cost management and
supporting the data processing manager to ensure the project delivers to exceed client
expectations and within budget.
The Senior Data Processor will also be responsible for
regular reporting on the progress of projects to the data processing manager, directors
and customer stakeholders. The Senior Data Processor will be committed to the
success of the division and will assist with implementing and maintaining the
highest standards in data quality.
The Senior Data Processor will specifically be
responsible for:
• Coordination of data processing activities within the
hydrographic survey department, and for the planning,
management and delivery of assigned projects, specifically:
–
– Assisting with monitoring and control of data processing
performance against the budget, schedule and
specification requirements
– Assisting with the creation of processing documentation and
records including data processing logs,
project execution procedures, reports, etc;
– Identifying changes in the scope of work and ensuring that
appropriate change requests /contract
variations are managed accordingly;
– Liaising with the project team throughout the project;
– Assisting with the management of company IT and software
assets allocated to the project;
– Assisting with the management of external sub-contractors
allocated to the project;
• Assisting with the development of hydrographic data
processing processes & procedures.
• Regularly and consistently reporting any potential data
quality issues to the Hydrographic Survey
Manager
• Ensuring assigned projects are completed on time and
within budget.
• Line management of junior team members
• Any other duties and responsibilities as the Directors see
fit for the role.
HSEQ
• Ensure that the requirements of the Health, Safety,
Environment & Quality procedures, insofar as they affect
works under their control, are properly implemented;
• Responsible for ensuring that method statements and
procedures are followed by staff and contractors under
their control;
• Engage with data processing teams and contractors to
ensure that the client high HSEQ standards are being
maintained at all times; and
• Drive forward the positive safety culture of the client and
strive for continual improvement.
Day to day duties may include:
• Data Processing
• Project Administration, Client Liaison & Resource
Allocation – staff, IT, processing software, etc.
• Establishing / Ensuring Project Milestones are kept
• Data Issue & QA of Completed Projects
• Liaising with clients by telephone, email, reports and in
meetings as required
• Attending site meetings as required
• Allocating data processing to survey staff with a full
project brief and deadline
• Maintaining & keeping up to date the project &
resource tracking within ASANA
• Communicating with the data processing manager and survey
manager risks to project data processing in regards to project milestones and
deadlines with proposed action plans and suggestions for mitigating such risks
Requirements for the role of Senior Data Processor will be:
• Excellent data management and coordination of survey data
• Ability to problem solve and troubleshoot data
• Flexibility and open mindedness to adjust workloads to
meet the project’s deadlines
• Good interpersonal and written communication skills.
• Ability to coordinate a team to deliver high standards of data processing and reporting
• Demonstrable experience within the hydrographic industry,
and be competent in working with industry
standard software including POSPAC, BeamworX and CARIS HIPS
& SIPS.
Additional Duties of the Senior Data Processor may be:
• Keeping abreast of technical developments within the
industry
• Identifying, approaching and securing new clients for
Hydrographic Survey
• Active client management and business development
• Managing and developing a strong team of competent and
qualified personnel
• Presenting services and capabilities to new and potential
clients
• Staff development and training according to HPAS
• Professional performance reviews of junior staff at
regular intervals
• Appropriate management of any grievance, disciplinary or
performance issues of members of the team
according to company policies
• Coordinating TOIL and all leave types for the team in
balance with work demands, ensuring reasonable
attempts are made to reconcile leave requests with work
deadlines
• Ensuring policies and procedures as per the clients Operation
Manual and the clients Employee
manual are consistently adhered to by team members
• Informal and formal communication to Directors and staff
members including written reports and
submission of evidence in scenarios where policies and
procedures are not adhered to by junior
members of staff. Escalation of grievances, performance and
failure to abide by Company policies
and procedures according to Employee Handbook
