Transmission Specialist
Our client is recruiting for a Transmission Specialist for work within the wind industry based in the United States.
Responsibilities of the Transmission Specialist:
- Implementation of the Electrical Safety Rules on site, including the safe system of work.
- Advise operationally on high voltage electrical installations to WTG, offshore substations and both HV submarine and onshore cables.
- Oversee safe commissioning of grid connections, onshore substations and associated MV/HV/LV plant and equipment.
- Coordinate MV/HV/LV commissioning activities through the project construction stages.
- Ensure compliance with and managing of Electrical Safety Rules.
- Oversee all MV/HV/LV electrical operational activities to ensure safety, security, and integrity of the HV network.
- Contribute to proactive management, good coordination, and communication between all parties and that the process works effectively.
- Carry out Switching Operations and Lock Out on LV and HV equipment.
- Outage management and network control in collaboration with the Control Engineers.
- Update MV/HV/LV schematic diagrams.
- Inspect work sites and perform site safety inspections and auditing for electrical matters.
- Coordinate with the Lead Commissioning Project Manager to ensure that accurate updates are distributed to the Project Management.
- Manage and coordinate HV/MV/LV commissioning activities.
- Coordinate with National Grid and attend commissioning panel meetings.
- Prepare and check high voltage switching schedules.
- Check method statements for electrical matters.
- Implement and provide training programmes for relevant staff according to the rules.
- Provide technical and engineering advice to working parties for electrical matters.
- Assist different departments when required.
- Input to the project commissioning management manual and related documents.
- Participate in different audits.
- Report from FAT and SAT meetings on the different high voltage equipment.
- Onsite check of switching programs.
- Participate in the planning of resources and work activities.
- Deliver inputs to the design phase of the project on technical aspects.
- Participate in authorisations and assessments of new candidates.
Requirements:
- Appropriate electrical qualification and background relates to the authorisation scope.
- Several years of experience within the field of high voltage electricity.
- Minimum of 3 years of working experience within onshore substations systems.
- Able to pass GWO and HUET with CA-EBS course.
Additional Information:
- Rotation will be 14 days on, 14 days off.
- Duration of project will be 2 years, with a 6 month extension.
- CA-EBS course will be paid for by the client, but will be deducted from final pay if contract is terminated by candidate or agency within 1 year.
