Upstream We are seeking an experienced Chief Operator to support a rig-up project in Las Palmas, Spain. The successful candidate will lead and coordinate operational activities during the rig-up phase, ensuring all work is executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.
Applicants must be an EU/European citizen with the legal right to work in Spain, as the rig will be dockside in Las Palmas and local employment requirements apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise rig-up operations while the rig is docked in Las Palmas.
- Coordinate daily operational activities with the Rig Manager, project team, and contractors.
- Ensure all rig-up activities are conducted in accordance with HSE standards and company procedures.
- Oversee equipment installation, commissioning, and operational readiness.
- Provide technical guidance and leadership to the operations crew.
- Monitor progress, identify operational risks, and implement corrective actions as required.
- Maintain accurate operational records and reports.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Chief Operator on offshore drilling rigs.
- Extensive experience supporting rig-up, commissioning, or shipyard projects.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Valid offshore certification (BOSIET/FOET, medical, and other relevant certifications preferred).
- Must be an EU/European citizen with the legal right to work in Spain, as the rig will be dockside in Las Palmas and local employment requirements apply.
- Availability for the duration of the rig-up project.
