Job Summary:

We are looking for two experienced Offshore Wellsite Support Engineers (Offshore) with a minimum of 7 years of specialized experience in ERD (Extended Reach Drilling) well monitoring and supervision. The ideal candidates will have strong technical knowledge in torque & drag (T&D) and hydraulics modeling, reaming simulations, and the ability to analyze and forecast real-time data for offshore drilling operations. As a key member of the offshore drilling team, the engineers will ensure efficient and safe well operations, leveraging advanced modeling tools and field expertise.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Real-Time Data Collection & Forecasting: Manage and utilize independent modules for real-time data collection, enabling forecasting of T&D and hydraulic loads during offshore drilling operations.
  • Data Overlay: Import and overlay measured data (in LAS format) on calculated data to assess well performance and make necessary adjustments.
  • Reaming Simulations: Provide reaming simulations with sensitivity to various factors, including rotary speed and running speed, to optimize drilling operations.
  • Torque & Axial Load Assessment: Analyze torque and axial loads during drilling operations, particularly in scenarios involving swivels or set liner hangers.
  • Reaming Torque & Drag Modeling: Model and assess reaming torque and drag, considering the effects of fixed or rotating centralization during operations.
  • Hydraulics Modeling: Apply field-proven hydraulics modeling techniques, accommodating multiple fluids while predicting pressure losses, circulating pressures, and swab/surge pressures.
  • Swab & Surge Calculations: Perform swab and surge calculations with or without autofill equipment to ensure wellbore stability and efficient drilling operations.
  • Thermal Gradient Adjustment: Assess and adjust for thermal gradient fluid rheology to ensure optimal drilling fluid behavior under varying conditions.
  • Historical Data Comparison: Facilitate the comparison of historical data with real-time data, including drag trends for successive trips in a given hole size or torque trends for similar well trajectories.
  • Software-Generated Predictions: Use specialized software to rapidly generate graphs that show predictions for a range of friction factors, fluid rheologies, and pump rates, allowing for quick decision-making in the field.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 7 years of experience in wellsite support, focusing on ERD well monitoring and supervision.
  • Specialized Skills: Strong knowledge of torque & drag management, hydraulics modeling, and reaming simulations for offshore operations.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficient in software used for real-time data collection, data overlay (including LAS format), and modeling torque, drag, and hydraulics loads.
  • Field Experience: Proven ability to work offshore and provide technical support in real-time for well operations, including expertise in managing pressure losses, torque, drag, and other critical factors.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications in drilling or engineering (e.g., IWCF, IADC) are preferred.

Additional Information:

  • The position involves offshore work, requiring candidates to be comfortable with offshore rotations and working in challenging environments.
  • Must be proficient with specialized software tools for modeling and analyzing real-time drilling data.
  • Candidates should have hands-on experience in ERD well operations, with specific expertise in torque, drag, and hydraulics management.
  • Field experience with reaming torque and drag, including handling challenges with fixed/rotating centralization, is essential.
